Dual Language
DUAL LANGUAGE IMMERSION PROGRAM
The West Covina Unified School District currently offers a Dual Language Immersion Program at Monte Vista Elementary. Beginning in TK, native Spanish and native English speaking students study together for the purpose of becoming bilingual and biliterate, able to read, write, think and communicate in English and Spanish, upon high school graduation.
Dual Language Immersion Programs have proven effective for a wide variety of students. Students who have the ability to read, write, think, and communicate in two languages are better prepared to compete in a global economy and possess a command of language that will support them in being college and career ready upon graduation.
