Bullying and Internet Safety

The West Covina Unified School District believes that every student is entitled to a safe school environment free from discrimination, harassment, intimidation, and bullying. WCUSD’s Anti-Bullying Policy can be accessed in each school’s office and in the WCUSD Parent/Student Handbook, which indicates the WCUSD Anti-Bullying Policy (English) / (Spanish).

Bullying is one of the most serious and pervasive problems facing our schools. Bullying happens when a vulnerable person is repeatedly hurt, threatened, or tormented by another. Bullying can happen face-to-face, but it often occurs online where the bully feels untouchable. Victims of bullying often experience low self-esteem, depression, and even suicidal thoughts.

Any student who feels he/she is a victim of bullying/cyberbullying or harassment should immediately contact a teacher, counselor, site administrator or other school site employee.  All complaints regarding bullying/harassment shall be investigated in a manner that protects the confidentiality of the parties involved while not impeding the investigation. The official Complaint Form (English) or Formulario para Denunciar el Acoso Escolar y Hostigamiento should be filed.

Emergency Management

We are dedicated to creating a safe space for learning at all WCUSD schools. Each school has developed a comprehensive Safety Plan which contains emergency procedures. The Safety Plans are updated on an annual basis and can be accessed in each school’s front office.
